Reading with 6th graders at SSMS

Hi, it was a busy day today after my lunch at ESMS (see below), I had the honor of heading over to SSMS to talk and read to a few 6th grade classes. They were celebrating National Read to Children week and it was great to see them and read part of the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan to them. It's a great book and the first in a series that you won't be able to put down!

Lunch at ESMS

Hi, I was back at ESMS for Library at Lunch and had a blast watching and playing games with the 6th, 7th and 8th graders that attended. I hope to come back soon, so keep an eye and ear out for more details!

Election Season

I am sure you can't help but have noticed that in 2 weeks we have elections coming up and while you won't be able to vote (sorry it bummed me out too when I was your age), you can still learn about the candidates and our electoral system. Check out this link from the Library of Congrees which is all about Elections: http://memory.loc.gov/learn/features/election/home.html

Booktalks @ ESMS

Hi, sorry this is a day late but yesterday I had the pleasure of booktalking for Ms. Hird's classes at ESMS. It was a lot of fun and you all did a great job asking and answering questions! Just a reminder that all of these books are on the AR list for ESMS, so they count towards your reading for that!! Here are the titles:
· The Gospel According to Larry By Janet Tashijan
· Code Orange By Caroline Cooney
· Coraline By Neil Gaiman
· Things Not Seen By Andrew Clements
· Witness By Karen Hesse
· Fever, 1793 By Laurie Halse Anderson
· City of Ember By Jeanne DuPrau
· Gossamer By Lois Lowry

Fall is finally in the air!

Did you have good weekend? I used Saturday and Sunday to do nice Fall-y kind of things, like going to an orchard and picking out a pumpkin. I also went through a corn maze which was fun. What's your favorite thing to do in the fall?
